i have heard good things about both. which would you choose and why

Pacesetter. I have em and like em a lot. They are excellent headers for the money. They have nice thick flanges and a pretty good ceramic coating. Mine are close to a year old and look like new!

I would say the exact same thing, I love my pacesetters. around 10k on miles, and not a damn problem!

I really like the idea of a stepped 1 5/8 - 1 3/4 header (Hedman) for 'stock internals' applications but they only come 'painted', though they are still even cheaper than painted Pacesetters.
I'd probably still go for the coated Pacesetter's because they're a great value and have been proven to make the power when coupled with the right Y pipe/duals/exhaust etc.

I'm really curious to see what those Hedmans do on a bolt on car. Might be worth some extra torque down low.
