Can I use GM part 12573949 (headgasket 2002 LS1) with a set of 99 heads? What is the difference between those and GM part 12558809/10?

I tried search but found no answer.

The 99 head has the little cast in slot on the edge of the mounting surface that limits head gasket type of what you can use. That number may be a supersed number for the previous gasket. The mid year 2000 and up does not have the slot.
