Get Out Of Jail Free Not a race per se but maybe this is where it belongs.
I got my car back today with the T-2R and 3.42s in.
The dealership mechanic and his helper drove it back
to my house and suggested we take if tor a test drive
on the Interstate, just down to the next interchange
and back. So I hit the on-ramp and floor it. There is
a car-carrier semi barreling along in the right lane so
I don't let up, see 125 on the speedo (though this is
off slightly due to the fresh gears) and bip-bip-bip-bip,
every light on my Valentine 1 is going nuts. So I let
off right away, coast in front of the truck and am down
to maybe 80 or so when the local police cruiser pulls
alongside. Comes the PA system, "That car goes pretty
fast".
Then he motors on.
My lucky freakin' day, or what?
The mechanics were just laughing fit to bust a nut.

The guy probably gave you the benefit of the doubt because you had to merge, and there was a big truck there. Also, he probably liked your car, so Im sure that didnt hurt either. He probably saw you slowing down too... so, again, he probably figured you only hit that speed to merge. You are still a lucky SOB though...
