Wink Kook Headers are installed

I just had my Kook headers installed on friday a local shop. After driving it around for a while on the weekend, I have to say this was the best mod that I have done yet. The interor of the engine looks so much better than before and the throttle response is definately improved and accerates so much better. My only concern was how it was going to sound. After starting it up, ii idealed deeper and was somewhat louder. Driving at highway speeds its not much louder in the interior but when you get on it, its definaletly louder and sounds way better than regular manifolds. Everyone that has heard it says it sounds awesome and says its really loud. I didn't think it was loud until I had someone rev it for me when I was outside of it and it was definlately louder then I thought and sounded awesome. Anyone thats debating on getting headers for their car it definaltely worth it and makes the car feel like a totally different one.

Definitely glad you went with the catted-y since you have that Loudmouth. You definitely would have been upset if you hadn't.

I can't wait until I can afford some Kooks..

Have someone drive it down the road while you follow them. That's what I dad when I had mine put on, it sounds badass.

I know you said you had a shop install them, but were there any fitment issues? I figure for the $$$ they should be a golden fit.. All the other LT's, jet hot, pacesetters, hooker, etc. all had fitting issues. I thought I read somewhere about these fittin' nice.....Anyone else, fitment problems??

I had no issues at all with my QTP's, they are the same design as the Kooks.

What kind of cats do they use? By the looks of the y-pipe, you have to run O2 sims or have them deleted?? Can you get the headers in ceramic coating?

They sell an O2 extension cable so it reaches the sensor. If you don't want to use the extensions, you can delete the codes by using LS1 edit (I beleieve). The kook headers I bought are stainless steel, but they can also be coated for like $250 extra. The Y pipe is aluminized steel. I'll have to ask if they had any fittment issues when I pick up the orginal parts. I filled the car up today since installion of the headers and it dropped from 18.5 to 14.5.

I have 1-7/8 stainless kooks on my SS and picked up 20/22 with the KooKs catted Y.
I just sold my catted Y and installed a KooKs ORY, picked up 7/10.

So total 27/32 gain, not too bad for just exhaust work. All of this has been with the LM catback.

I installed my own headers, so I can tell you that they fit very well. They are such a pain to get on though, you have to get the drivers side JUST right before it will slide in and it looks like it will never happen at first.

Installing the 1 7/8's are quite a bit more difficult then the 1 3/4's from what I've heard.

I was talking about the QTP LT's and catted y, I know all about the kooks. The kooks catted y is a nice design, but the QTP has the Flomaster merge on it. So does the QTP catted y have provisions for rear O2's? and can they coat the headers? What kind of cats do they use? Originally I wanted the kooks and catted y, but the QTP catted y looks like it will perform better w/the merge on it, Just asking since someone else posted having the QTP's.

Congrads on the install! This is good news to hear since my 1 3/4 Kooks are sitting in my living room floor waiting on a x-pipe. I wanted to make my first mod a good one, and from the sounds of your success, i think it's going to be worth the wait.

I'm just running the stock tune, but it's a pretty good tune though. On the wideband it runs at about 12.9 through the entire pull.

This is also with none of the 'free mods' for whatever they are worth.

There are no provisions for the rear O2's on the y-pipe. Just get some O2 sims or have the sensors deleted with LS1 edit.
