Generation III Internal Engine - Removing crank timing sprocket?!?!

ok ok how do I get this sprocket off??? Replacing oil pump and going with SLP double roller timing chain and am held up with removing the old crank sprocket.

You need a puller... None of my regular pullers would get behind it. So I used my harmonic ballancer puller ( like a gear puller but with four arms with slots instead of jaws) and caught it with the heads of three 3/8" carriage bolts. It came off pretty easily once I got it hooked. I haft to laugh. When I first saw the topic I thought you wanted to take off your reluctor wheel. I was going to say stop but then I read the post. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Do you have to drop the oil pan to do this?

i used my 3 jaw crank puller to get mine off
it is tought to get started but it comes right off.

Thx finally got it off what a pain was the hardest part of the swaps - cept for cracking the housing but thats another story lol.

Gotta drop the pan to remove the pickup tube off the oil pump.
