Same thing for me.

Here's a link to a thread that gives a lot of good info about the problem.

Well I hope you're able to work it out. I was just double-checking my car today to see if any bubbles have started. Thankfully, none have appeared yet.

Is there a specific place on the roof where it bubbles? Just curious cus I noticed something funny on my paint on the passenger side down close to the fender. There are 4 or 5 marks in a line. It doesn't look like bubbles but it could be starting.

its like a strip(inch wide) in the front of the panel towards your t tops, and a strip on the back of the panel by your rear window, almost across the whole panel. this are the spots where the glue is located under the panel. last year, i had my panel painted 12 times, until i finally gave up and bought another panel.

Whether or not the dealership will fix it is kinda hit or miss. I guess I kind of trapped my Service Advisor. I was asking about warranties, recalls, and the like. I asked him about the paint/rust warranty, it's 6 years/100k. Luckily, my car is an '01 with only 38k, so after they took a look, they sent a request to the GM regional rep, it was approved for warranty repair earlier today. Don't know what to tell the other guys whose cars are older the 6 years or greater than 100K.

One thing you should tell them is that it is obviously a latent defect. The reason you didn't get it repaired under warranty is that THEY FAILED to notify you that it was a known problem. I'm sure if they said to you, "oh hey, we found out that the roof panel bubbles from the glue we used off-gassing" I'm sure you would have taken it in to fix it. Good luck!

Isp your car is 5 years old how long do you think Gm is gonna warranty your paint for?I also think once you are out of your factory warrant which was 3years or 36000 miles you are done.

Mine is starting to bubble up too. I really dont want a dealership touching my car. I could just imagine how some (not all) of these wanna be mechanics/ wanna be racecar drivers are going to just start salivating once my car rolls into the lot. Is It hard to remove/install the pannel yourself?

i took my panel off in 10 mins. the only thing you need is one of those real sharp thin wires that auto glass shops use to remove windshields. Just stick the wire underneath the panel and work your way up and around the panel pulling the wire back and forward.
