Default V6 camaro vs. Shelby Cobra

I know i'm prolly going to get the a lot but i'm going to tell my race anyway. I was coming home from work on saturday, and i saw this nice looking older shelby cobra, I saw him, he saw me and we both instantly took off, from about 60 we went to about 110, and i stayed even with him. Trafic stared to get worse so i was just going to go home, but then me and him caught a light right before our house. We went from a dig and at about 70 he had 2 to 3 cars on me, two kick *** old dudes. said they just bought the car from texas, coudln't belive i was a v6 and only had 200 horses. i think the passenger said they have 4 but i didn't know if that was horsepower or what. just thought i share my story with you guys.

Do you mean shelby cobra like the roadster? The smallest engine that they came with was a 289 hi-po, making more then 300 hp, and i think a few even got 427's in them. If it was a shelby mustang cobra, then i guess maybe could be a v6 clone, or maybe a v8 with a 4 barrell carb? Either way good race!

Nice run either way. I wouldnt see why you would post something otherwise. But I don't believe you ran into one of those older Cobra's packing heat.

I highly doubt that it was a real cobra. Aren't those really loud? It was probably a kit car with a 4 banger or a 6 in it.

I've never seen anyone put less than a small block
V-8 in a Cobra replicar. I've probably seen 20 of
them with hoods up at car shows and never one
that wasn't a V-8. Why would anyone go to
all that work and then wimp out on the punchline?
That's what those MG-TD kits are for.

haha...my old v6 could only get about 115-120...and from about 90-110 took like 5-10 seconds...so that car had to suck super bad...

Even the slowest cobra did 0-60 in around 5 seconds. About the same as an LS1.

Are you sure the old dudes weren't wearing Fez hats and squirted water out of the car.
Sounds like you raced some shriners.

I raced a cobra back when I had my S2000(a car which would easily make a V6maro look foolish) and it was no contest. That guy handed me my *** in the worst way. BRRRRRRAAAAAP, went his 427 and it was all over. Sounded wicked as it oh so happily chased the horizon. Not calling B.S. But I would assume they had a few plug wires off to save gas mileage.

Are you freaking kidding me?

A 2300 lb car with 300 hp vs a 3300 lb car with 200 hp?

Jesus Christ I hope you're being sarcastic, if not that could be the stupidest ******* thing I've ever seen.

im sure a stock 289 is barley making no where near 300hp, maybe sitting on a engine dyno with no belts or accessories? It takes some modding to make a 289 quick.

http://home.pon.net/hunnicutt/history_64_68.htm

A GT package available on the two versions of the 289 4bbl V8's tightened up the suspension. The High Performance 289 helped straight-line fun with a gross HP rating of 271, probably about 200 net.

Well that wasnt "top of the line" Top of the line was the 427 one and it ran in the 12's I think back then with radials. I am just saying if it was a 289 car with an old granny shifting dude behind the wheel it is possible for the V6 Camaro guy to take him, I'm just trying to prove that I am not stupid like someone was trying to point out I was. I also read that V6 camaro can run 15's and with some mods and good tires break into the 14's, not sure what V6 boy has done?

They do 0-60 in 5 seconds with 2.xx rear gears!

Hello, you ARE stupid if you think a shelby cobra was racing a v6 camaro and lost.

I mean, it could have been a timid rider on a hayabusa, and its just as believeable, right?

Gimmie a break.

Also, I bet that time is with a very SHITTY driver on 1960's rubber.
