EFI VEpcm and ls1edit map vs rpm table

Default EFI VEpcm and ls1edit map vs rpm table

Just wanted to bounce this out:

looking at a efi log of a recent dyno run the vepcm numbers dont match anthing that is in the ve table.

should the vepcm match up to the rpms in the ls1edit main ve table.

Looking at the map by rpm the VE in the table is nowhere near what efi showed at the map and rpm. Should these be somewhere closed?
I would assume ( and that may bite me ) that what efi is showing for VE is what should be somewhere in the table for corresponding map vs rpm. idle, pt and wot just dont seem to match up to the tables.

Table shows map at 105 rpm 4800 and 5200 with 2353 and 2316 respectively. But in the efi log at that same place its

That ve calculation is based on input from the MAF and other sensors. If there is anything wrong with the way your maf is reading those numbers will be skewed.

The formula will get you in the ballpark a WB is the way to to make positively sure. Read the ve table cracked sticky it explains the formulas to great lengths.

I saw the sticky and thats why I looked on the efi site and help file to see and it appears to be using the VE calc just like the sticky. Thats why I was curious about why EFI is showing something and should those number correspond to the VE Main Table?

Edit uses a VE table format that is like an absolute
air quantity. EFILive and HPTuners use a format
that is %-of-theoretical.

I have a related question, but for hptuners. If you log ve in hptuners, is it just showing what is in your ve table for that rpm, or is it calculating it based on that equation.

The VE that HPTuners logs is a calculation from the MAF
airflow (probably uses the Dynamic Cylinder Air), against
the calculated ideal air charge.

I don't know about the EFILive difference between the
two VE PIDs; there is no detail in the V6 manual about
that and I never bothered with them while I was using
EFILive as my logger. The EFILive forums would be a
good place to ask that one. I fired up EFILive and looked
at the VE PID, it shows %, VEpcm, and the info looks like
they just differ by a factor of 30.

Ve% should be 0-100 and VEPCM should be edit ve the only thing that changes is the multiplier 212544 for the percentage calculation and 6155274.24 for the edit/pcm calculation

Then how am I seeing ve% above 100?

Dayum looking at your log you are getting some like that MAP readings they are like 104. Maybe its your Free ram air Mod I dont have an answer for you ATM

These logs are from my GTO, all stock except for the MagnaCharger, ported t/b and descreened ( per magnuson ) maf.

Now you know why I am going bonkers trying to just relate tables to readings.

I have already desided to scrap the shops tune they put this on, and just broke down and buying the magnuson tune. I "ASSUMED" and we know where that goes, that the shop putting in the m/c would have had a clue about s/c'er but that assumption is proven with these logs

Since the MAP vs RPM goes to 105 why is 104 bad??

Haha, well no wonder you're getting over 100%. You're probably maxing out the MAP sensor but not the MAF, so when you calculate it out it's over 100% if that makes any sense.

Sorry should have said at first this was from the S/C'ed GTO not the SS. SS is a happy car

Now I know why I like NA cam'ed cars :S

My posts assumed you were talking about the camaro. If you have a SC on that puppy that is would explain the >100 ve's. Its doing its job and making the engine more Volumetric Efficient
