What did the recent GMHTP say about the SSRA and why no gain??????
Hi...Someone mentioned that the SSRA showed no gains in the recent GMHTP magazine. Can somebody describe what the article said, and why were there no gains? Correct if I'm wrong, but I thought the SSRA is a good product and I'm interested in purchasing it for my TA. If this information is incorrect, I apoligize to Austin Performance. Thanks!

NO SSRA
Run 1- 12.56 @ 106.90 1.78 sixty foot
Run 2- 12.56 @ 106.82 1.77 sixty foot
WITH SSRA
Run 1- 12.54 @ 107.08 1.76 sixty foot
Run 2- 12.62 @ 107.25 1.84 sixty foot
They stated between all runs the car had a 30 minute cool down so the car could be run at the same temperature. They noticed no difference with the seal on or off of the front of the airbox. They said it fit well, and there was not clearance issues and they recommend the SSRA. All this info. was taken directly from GMHTP.

I think its a good mod especially at the higher speeds. My third gear pulls crazy
I like mine
It gives you the slight edge.

Maybe GMHTP was right...Is this thing worth the money? Does anybody have any better gains than this? Would it make much of difference on a car with just a few mods? If it improved by 1/10 in 1/4 that would be great!

If you think advertising dollars dont tilt a bias scale....WRONG. This is the same magazine that got a gain with a SLP 85mm mafs. I have the ssra, it pulls like crazy from about 60mph and up. I also picked up a solid 1.5mph in the quarter, in all weather conditions. I couldn't be happier with it. peace, Vic

I have SSRA, my car pulls much more than it did, I have only gone to the track once but I ran 13.454@106.79 with stock tires and just lid/filter/ssra, 95 degrees and humid at the time, but i love it as a product and could definately tell a diff when i got it.

ssra
I have an ftra like intake with the austin scoop attachment(same thing as the ssra but all metal instead of brital plastic) and I gained 1.5mph in the 1/8th and 2 in the 1/4. I love it and i sanded it down and painted it black so it blends right in with the air dam, most people don't even notice it's there till I show them. Great producted

I just got back into town from a 3 day trip. I don't know what to tell you about GMHTP's article. It has me stumped. The SSRA is the same principle as the other cold air kits out there such as the FTRA and SLP CAI. The difference is that it's larger dimensionally, has a scoop, and is made of plastic. I guess every car is different(GMHTP). I had a friend who put a certain brand of heads and only picked up about 15rwhp when everyone else with these heads was picking up a 30rwhp gain. This happened to me also. I didn't gain one HP from going from my stock LS1 heads to a mild stage1 5.3 head. I'd say 98% of the people that buy it get a noticable gain from it. I believe I have the best product with many testimonials to back it up.

Did anyone see what filter they were running? I don't have the ssra but I have the slp ram air, with out the extension and I noticed it at 60+mph, don't doubt it, it works, plus think of down the road, bigger tb,intake, maf, they all add up over time to make a better flowing system, more air is better. Also how bout the gas mileage, anyone see the increase?

Al, Thank you for your response: "I don't know what to tell you about GMHTP's article. It has me stumped." I definately believe your product works. Does GMHTP want to promote the SLP CAI instead? Do you think they are biased about your product? Personally, I think SLP must own a few shares of GMHTP. A lot of their work is done at SLP.

I wonder if they checked the seal (besides by hand or eye) to make sure it was air-tight?
