Default Huge roadrunner on the highway

I'm on a 4 lane highway, trying to get a run with this puke green roadrunner, only we can't get clear. This 20 foot long barge is thumping my chest as he hits the gas, must have been a 440 or a Hemi. We play a few times and we finally get a little room. I go to third and hit it, but he doesn't go. So I brake and go back to 6th thinking "WTF mate" and THEN he goes from about 4 cars back. I hit 3rd right as he is passing me and I stop his pull but we are fast approaching traffic. He holds it WOT right into traffic then makes a dart into another lane to avoid another car.

Obviously ricyness isn't for jap cars anymore.

1. He should have ran me heads up

2. Weaving through traffic at 100 or so isn't cool

I felt robbed.

His car might have actually beat me with a clean run, but I guess we'll never know.

Dangerous driver. Happen to know what year RR it was...if it was a 426, couldn't have been later than '71? Never'll know unless you meet him again.

That's a shame those old mopars are awesome cars. I'd love to get a run with one but finding one on the street willing to go is pretty hard to do. Also sounds like his won't be on the street much longer if he keeps driving like that.

Don't know mopars, unless its a 'cuda.

If I saw pics I could probably pick out the year. And I wouldn't bet on the engine being original anyway. This things was modified. Like running straight pipes off a big block modified.

And it was FAST.

Like I went 3/4 throtle into 3rd and realized that wasn't enough

Haven't seen many 20 ft long barges do much "darting" lately.

Everything is relative.

He jerked the wheel, followed by much body roll, followed by the car actually moving around into the other lane.

Okay, it wasn't THAT big, but those things sure are huge next to a 4th gen.

Totally a matter of opinion. Personally i would rather have a 4th Gen.
And this guy sounds like he was an idiot, who tries to weave in and out of traffic with a car like that? Not exactly a car known for it's cornering abilities.

Check my cardomain page, its got my 70 GTX in it which is just the upgraded model from the roadrunner (they look the same almost) To bad that idiot was a dangerous driver, but then when he wrecks it, it will make the value of mine go up Makes it more Rarer

70 was the last good year for the Mopar big blocks...they lowered the c.r. to about 8.5:1 in 71...except for the 426 which was 10.5:1 (the earlier 426s were 12.5:1 ). They killed the 340 in 72,the same way.

I was just looking in the engine blueprints section of the NHRA site and for 68 their were two versions of the 426 hemi. One was 10.25:1 and had two Carter AVS quads and the other was 13.5:1 and had two Holley 4s. Both ,strangely, were rated at 425hp. Head cc was 167.7 for both.

70 was the peak of the oe big blocks across the board.....i guess some emissions law was passed that year and everyting went downhill after that.....

Dave

yeah, a road runner is way more rare then a 4th gen.

and an fbody IS known for its cornering? give me a break. didnt the ws6/ss pull like .86 on the skidpad? thats not exactly awsome there... that car is a rare piece of history. its probably worth about 2-3 fbody's if its in excellent condition. 2-3 fbody's being priced at 10k each. which is what i can get a 00 t/a or z28 for.
