Now that the new Edelbrock Victor Series Drag Race Long Tube headers are out for our ls1's, I was wondering what everyone would pick if they had a choice between the new Pacesetters or the Edelbrocks? I will probably be ordering these sometime this week, and I just want to get the best bang for buck, and I have heard rumors that the Edelbrocks are better than Pacesetters? Any info confirming this?

If u want to choose between those two, choose edelbrock. They have better maderal bends and have a better welding job along the flanges. They flow better and sound just as good, but if u want the best go with kooks.

Do you know a good place to order them from? I looked and found them on Jeg's for $374.99 which sounds like a good price, but if there is a better price, then let there be money saved!

Im curious about these edelbrock headers now, especially if their the same price. I was strongly considering the pacesetters as well.

I was just checking out summit racing, and they say that the edelbrock victor series drag race headers are STAINLESS STEEL for $378.99, and I've heard they come with everythin...even o2 extensions! This just sounds too good to be true, but hopefully it isn't. I'll be giving summit a call tomorrow to confirm this.

Im searching for other posts on these headers, but Im not seeing anything. The only thing I can say about the pacesetters is everyone buys them, generally with good results

Yeah, that's why I'm having a hard time deciding between the 2. But Edelbrock has a good reputation, and these LT's are pretty new, so maybe they once they are out for a while they will be mentioned more often. Anyways, if they really are stainless steel, then I might be tempted to order the Edelbrocks over the Pacesetters.

I would double-check that stainless bit, I got a different
impression (stainless would be definitely too good to pass
up). Texas Speed has the coated PaceSetters for $374
on sale. So that, vs painted Edelbrocks would be a better
piece I think. Though I do not know whether PaceSetter
coating is inside and out (like Jet-Hot) or just outside.
I would take Edelbrock's word for construction, over
Summit's....

Also I get the impression from the Edelbrock literature
that you have to adjust the collector position and weld
on them some? Which if so would make those more than
a "Rhino ramps and ratchet" proposition(?).

Well, I just checked Edelbrock's website and they are mild steel, and they didn't tell if they were painted or coated. Also, no luck in finding if the collector has to be welded or anything. I knew it was too good to be true...I might go with Pacesetters after all.

You can get the edelbrocks coated for the same price as the painted ones...

Pacesetters are a little more expensive, and edelbrock is a leading name in performance today...Especially with headers and exhaust systems... I was satisfied to hear my buddies light up the parkin lot..He had tons of head turns. The headers he got were painted black but i woulda got ceramic...

Do you know where you can get the coated ones? That would help me make my decision, since the Edelbrocks supposedly come with O2 extensions also, which would mean more money saved.

I'm pretty sure you can't get the Edelbrocks in coated, thats why I went with the coated pacesetters. I was really happy with the quality and ease of install on the pacesetters, you will not be disappointed, I however have not had any experience with the edelbrocks.

If you really like the Edelbrocks for their
plumbing qualities, you could always go send
them out to be stripped (probably not hard
given the generally poor quality of most headers'
paint) and coated, like at Jet-Hot or Performance
Coatings?

Then you might be at the same cost as just getting
Jet-Hots or others, but maybe with a collector
design you like better.

I just made this post about the edelbrocks I just received...

They aren't stainless steel and i'm fairly positive they aren't available coated. I was told that the collectors don't need to be welded. They slip fit about 2.5 inches onto the main header. I will soon find out if they leak. I will post more when I install them, then track test them. They seem to be the best bang for the buck.

Not sure where the 'stainless' and even the 'coated' rumors came from but the Edelbrocks are NEITHER, at the moment at least. They are painted black and I do believe that the collectors, the O2 bungs and the EGR/AIR fittings (if you choose to use them that is) all have to be welded in place before installing them.

I don't think it will, those merge collectors look like they jut out a little further than the other headers that the TSP Y pipe would normally fit onto, plus they're 3.5" versus the TSP Y pipe's 3".
As much I like that TSP Y pipe (good price too), I think the Edelbrock Y pipe has an even better merge (where it meets the cat back I mean) and of course is also very cost effective like the TSP is.

get the edelbrocks... no install problems with them like pacesetters, they might not be coated, but who cares... stepped header for under 500 with y pipe.. hell get the edelbrocks coated and they put the kooks headers to shame. I have them on my car, and I love em.
