Default Atap questions

Can you only use the software version from when you bought ATAP?
If so, how can I get a copy of the old version? The old CD is screwed and version 2.05 won't work.

Any suggestions?

if you have version 2.0 of the autotap cable the older versions will not work. i.e. DOS and ver 1.0

if you have version 1 of the cable you should beable to use all versions... but 2.0 needs a reg key and 2.0 is almost point less on the older hardware... SLOW!

give us more details about your cable?

The cable says AT1 on it. I have a 12 digit alpha/numeric code, but it doesn't work with the 2.05 software. It says I'm using hardware that is not registered...

AT1 just means its GM only cable, how long have you had this cable? I’m guessing the version 2.0 software was not shipped with your cable? Were you running version 1.0 before? And you just want to run the 2.0 software? If that’s the case and you have the v1 cable you should be able to use the 2.0 software with out a code... the code is only for hardware v2 users.

this is right from autotaps wedsite
Q. Do I need a registration code if I plan to use V2.x software with V1.x hardware?
A. AutoTap for Windows, V2.x, will work with V1.x hardware without the need for a registration code. If you are prompted for a registration code, make sure you have followed the following sequence when connecting to your vehicle: Key On, connect cable to vehicle's OBD II port, start software.

also try this and report your cable version
Q. How do I know what version of AutoTap hardware I have?
A. With AutoTap connected to your vehicle, select Help/About. On this screen, you can see your firmware version.

If you still have problem let us know and I sure we can fix a solution

I bought the cable used. I got the cable and a CD, the CD would not load, so I downloaded the 2.05 from B&B's website.

The message I get when I try to connect is:

You are ussing hardware that does not match what you are registered for. Make sure you are using hardware with serial number XXXXXXXXXX.

I have a registration code, but it doesn't recognize it when I enter it.

When I call B&B, I get voicemail all hours of the day.
