Question Installed my Jantzer throttlebody today????

I received my Jantzer throttle body today for my GTO and installed it. I didnt drive it yet but it sounds like there is a MASSIVE air leak coming from the inside of the K&N open air filter.

Is this normal?

I'm going to drive it and see how it feels and if it throws any codes.

What do you all think?

Thanks

Sounds like 1)Air leak or 2) great air flow. It's common to hear the air charge a little more. If it's leaking a lot of air, your idle would be super high also. If it's idleing normal, check the k&n seal or anything before the TB.

When i first started it up it sounded like it was leaking. After I drove it for a few miles the noise went away but it seems like it idles really high. When I stopped at a stop sign and took my foot off the gas, the cars idle speed was 6 mph. I dont know what normal is.

The car is amazingly fast right now. If I punch the throttle around 30 MPH I can chirp the wheels and the traction control kicks in.

It looks great and i'm know its flowing great.

Thanks for the GREAT work Scott.

I would think if it was leaking air then you would have really low rough idle. It could be just really good airflow like mentioned above.

See i dont know if its an air leak. It sounds like it. The "air leak" is coming from the filter. Everything is tight and secure. I cant adjust the idle screw because its all the way down.

I'm thinking it just has some great flow to it.

If every thing is tight and secure then I think you should be ok. My friends Eclipse has a cold air intake with and round filter and it kinda sounds like a BOV whenever he hits the gas.

With my BBK 80mm and K&N FIPK, the thing sounds like a vacuum cleaner especially on cold startup, as idle settles so it does, still you can hear it sucking air.

When I installed my jantzer TB, I had a horrible whistling sound.

It turned out it was being caused by where he had epoxied up the two air chambers and smoothed them out... my car idled like crap though, it just could not get enough air through the small copper tubes.

I ended up getting out the dremel and cutting out all of the epoxy and removed the tubes and it idles 1000x better now (and no more whistling)
