Default How much RWHP will it give me?

Getting ready to install three things. Can you help me to estimate how much RWHP I will gain from them with the mods in my sig.

1. Jantzer ported throttle body
2. LS6 Intake
3. Offroad 2-1/2" inch Mufflex down pipes with no cats.

Any estimates would be appreciated. I think it will net me about 35-45 RWHP. Am I over-estimating?

1) Just dyno and find out.
2) i don't see 35 rwhp with those mods. Aim low, so when you get more than expected you aren't let down like you would be if you aim high and dyno low.

Default Good idea to dyno ... BUT

I already know I should 'dyno-and-see' ... after spending $350 on my last dyno/tune, if I LOST 35 RWHP and a TON of RWTQ, I wouldn't be surprised ... hellfire ... HEHEHE!!!. I figure that if respected members here are posting 8-10 with the TB, 15 with the LS6 Intake, and 10 with eliminating cats, well, that equals 35 ... any way you slice it. Their numbers are backed up by dyno sheets that are not on H/C cars. So, why wouldn't I get what other people dyno on a similarly modded car ... especially with an upgraded cam? Does the combination of all three mods choke the numbers down? I would think it would improve the performance overall.

I'll compare a new dyno with the old one and will post results. I was disappointed with the numbers on the first dyno, with a tune and 6 pulls, so, I know about disappointment ... won't be any this time. I'd be happy with 25 RWHP and more RWTQ ... just hoping I'm pleasantly surprised and get more.

PERSONALLY , your best gain would be from a set of headers ... other than that i would have put my money into a good stall converter..

So what did you dyno the first time? You are not alone in being dissapointed in initial dynos. I hit 315rwhp/326Tq w/mods in sig.

No I am adding pacesetter LT's, TSP orp and an LS6 intake which should put me in the 340-350rwhp range and next will be a 224/224 cam which should put me in the 365-380 range...

Those 3 mods are all good ones but you will also really need LT's to maximize your gains. either way, good luck at the dyno and track!

KB99WS6, good luck with your mods too man. I hope you get what you expect and more when you dyno. My inital dyno with cam and tuning only netted me 335 RWHP/350 RWTQ. I totally agree that a stall converter and LTs' would be great mods, however, a moderate stall (3500) is what I need, because, after the stall converter and 12-bolt, the supercharger is goin' in. I would not have even bothered with the JBA shorty's if I had a 2000-2002 car, but, the 99 stockers flow for ****. I got the light/moderate TR cam and shorty's for a little more torque waaay down low. It fulfilled my needs as a daily driven street ride. I'm not building it race.

Thanks to all who have responded. However, the question has not been answered. Santiago, since you think I might get 450 RWHP, I would be most interested on how you might try to seriously answer the question. Here it is once again:

'I figure that if respected members here are posting 8-10 with the TB, 15 with the LS6 Intake, and 10 with eliminating cats, well, that equals 35 ... any way you slice it. The tricky part is those #'s may be correct. And they may add up to 35 But it dont seem to work that way in real life (the add up part). I'm sure you will get nice gains and wish you luck.

Default Makes sense Tim 98Z

THAT'S the kind of replies I was after. After some amount of thought, I am thinking along the same lines. Anyone done TB/intake/Offroad Downpipe replacement all at the same time? I'd be interested in what the dyno showed afterwards.

Going from high flow cats to off road pipe will be minor if even noticable. If your 335HP was through the cutouts, you may be dissapointed.

Post up after you dyno. I guess 15HP.

I would guess 20rwhp since you already have high flow cats.

Default Thanks Folks

Thanks for the feedback. The thing with the CATS is that the outlets are 2 1/2" in diameter, but, the inlets to the CATS are only 2 1/4", so, there is a slight restriction there, as well. Sorry I left that out. I know it won't be good for much, but, it has to help a little.

I am waiting on Texas Speed to get the coolant lines in for the LS6 Intake. Brian just emailed me and said they are back-ordered from GM ... not sure of an ETA yet. I've asked him to check and let me know. As soon as I get the coolant lines/plugs, the stuff will all go on the same day and I have someone who will do a couple of dyno pulls for me the following week. I'll post as soon as is possible.

Again, thanks and any replies are welcome ... good or bad.
