Default Blocks ls1/ls6 or does it mater

Is there ary sponsers or companies out there selling resleaved blocks or new casting blocks at 4" bore ready to go, finished honed ,line bored ready to be assembled blocks Or is this still too new to be this comon yet.

Next question if you were to go with the resleved route does the ls1 or ls6 block matter any more since the bores will be siesmesed (bay to bay casting holes will be gone )

Also does any one know if companies like World Products have any gen lll style blocks coming out soon???????

if you want a 4" bore go with a 6.0 block or ls2 block. not worth resleaving for just a 4" bore. if you do want a darton sleeve i'd recommend Steve @ Race Engine Developement (sponsor check right). a complete darton block ready for final hone will run ~3k. for the soundest block integretity go with the ls1 block.

A 98 LS1 block is the best for re-sleeving. Other than that, if you're not building a 100% dedicated race motor, it doesn't matter.

Why do you say 98 only. I am in between building 408 /427 mild compression and procharged. It will take a year or two but i have the money for the blocknow but i need to have the block 100% ready to take the crank and pistons.

he didn't say 98 only. he said 98 is the best. you can use any year.... ****.

if you're going with a procharger, why not go w/low compression? like 9.0? it'll mix better with the S/C then the stock compression if you're going with a lot of boost.

I got my block from MTI sleeved, honed and line honed for 2600.00 very nice people to deal with. They also said any LS1 block is better than a LS6.

I don't believe there are going to be any World/Dart/etc. blocks coming out in the near future. For the most part they are so busy making the rest of their stuff that they don't have the time for the R&D. Now if someone wants to do all the R&D they'll cast one for you

So Race Engine and MTI are the two top companies in the field or do all the blocks come from one and the other is a reseller.
