Default tranny type and torqe conv???

I just bought a 2001 Z28 automatic w/overdrive how do i find out which tranny i have??? Then which converter do i want for street strip? car was owned by a female, it is totaly stock except for kand n filter. Thanxs email is clowncsc@aol.com

4L60E is your trans. The converter must be for LS1 vehicles with a 4L60E.

Better than the FORD auto. In any case it is a good tranny up to a certain level, depending on how you use it etc>>> My stock one lasted through 45K of punishing miles and nitrous runs, still worked when I put in my FLP stage 4. Do a lot of fluid and filter change, a cooler is a definite plus even without a Hi stall verter. Do not delete torq management, as this will reduce life.

Tranny Cooler is a definite must....Ive seen built 4l60s take some hell... My stock one has even taken all kinds of abuse. I do flush the trans very often. Do not allow the fluid to get too burnt and you should be ok for awhile
