Default Installing big cam positive and negative comments more than welcome

Installing a cam soon with headers and true dualls with all the bolt ons. I`m running stock heads with a 6 Speed. (Please keep this in minde) I`m going for a traditional split with a duration around .234 and a lift avaraging .600 lift on a 112 LSA with no timing added or retarded.Don`t worry about springs I have some good doubble springs. Is this to much for what I have. I have a great tunner so driveability is not a issue. I guess what I`m asking if anyone is running this setup or a simmilar one? What HP and TQ are you making and most of all what is you gas milage (please post city or highway miles or a combination of both) Thanks for any help or comments good or bad.

If drivability is not an issue, you can pretty much run the biggest cam available. Gas mileage will drop some, but it will be more noticeable in city driving.

Gas mileage is about the same for me on the highway but I can tell the was a drop in city driving. I have a 231/237 duration and the thing pulls hard. It's a night and day difference from pre-cam WOT blasts.

I ran a 244/252 for a while in my car with only .581 lift on a 112. It drove "o.k.", but was somewhat of a pain in traffic even with 4.11s-with stock gears it would have sucked big time. That cam made 10 more rwhp over the TSP 231/237 I had in previously (415 vs. 405), but gave up some torque. This is through a steel nitrous driveshaft and 12 bolt. Other mods include lid, Kooks 1 3/4 longtubes, Pace 85mm MAF, and Hooker catback with a cutout. Gas mileage was around 15mpg with combo city/highway. Personally I would go with something smaller unless you're building a racecar because under 4K the car didn't pull well at all.

i see a lot of ls1 guys nowadays running some behemoth cams, but are you guys matching them to your heads for max peformance? dont just buy a cam because its big, call up some vendors to ask for advice and see what they tell you.

That IS important. When I go with some aftermarket heads I will look into what cam will best match my heads or vice versa.
