SLP IAT Module
#2
It tricks your IAT sensor into seeing a cooler reading and increasing your ignition timing. In my 98s tune it looks to be a bunch of poop to me. There is no spark increase that is worth using it for. Additionally, you will definitely not want to use it if you go speed density because correct IAT readings are important for accurately determining your fueling requirements. Your IAT is a thermistor that changes resistance based on temperature (you can even buy them at radio shack). There is nothing magical about it. It just changes resistance based on temperature. Instead of changing the SLP one sets to a specific resistance that makes the PCM think the incoming air is colder than it really is (unless it is really cold outside, then it is just wrong). You are much better off spending your money on something else.

On my '02 the tables do not advance timing any for
"colder" IAT readings so said module would do nothing
at all for spark. Might make for some added (undesirable)
enrichment vie PE adders and open loop fuel air table.
Yeah, it's a real "gem". At least if you did the resistor
fake, you would waste 40 bucks less for a do-nothing
(on late models) mod.
Really annoys me, also, to see these eBay scammers
selling the "kit" or "chip" to do the same (no)thing. I ought
to have my own auction, selling a list of things not to
buy for LS1s. At least that would have some value.

Wading through the timing tables today and it
occurred to me that my situation (double cold air
setup) might be what makes this worthless. There
is no timing advance for me, with colder temps
than I run (ambient plus a degree or two). But for
folks with regular Z/28s inhaling engine bay heat,
tricking it into thinking it's cold might produce, not
an advance, but at least an absence of spark retard
from the IAT adder tables.
So even if everybody says you're retarded, you can
buy one and prove them partly wrong.
But paying SLP $24.95 retail for a $0.59 (3-pack) Radio
Shack part is still not too smart.
