Default '04 6.0L Block Beware

I'm building a 408 and the company that built the engine used a brand new '04 block -- everything looked good until I went to use the head studs out of my old engine -- and nope -- they wouldn't work. Instead of 16 long and 4 short they're all 20 short.

No big deal -- I called ARP and they knew what I ws talking about and sent me the correct set. So, I continued building the engine.

Here's where the problem is -- on the front of the block there is suppose to be 3 holes for the alternator bracket and 1 from the alt to the side of the block -- I know you have to drill and tap the top closest to the tip of the block, but the one in the center (closest to the water jacket) doesn't exist on this block, which generally would not be a problem if my ATI bracket didn't bolt to the ear above that.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? What can be done to fix it? Is this even an issue to be concerned with?

I think that the aluminum baracket might flex and brake...

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

All 6.0 blocks are missing the inside boss closest to the timing chain cover. It has never been a problem leaving that bolt out in the past.

I originally posted this in forced induction because I think this alternator issue only effects f-bodys using ATI SC's where the SC bolts to the alternator bracket -- for some reason someone felt they needed to move the post out of "FI".

I dont feel that is neccessarily an issue on NA cars. I have a machine shop making me a bracket from the water pump to the alt ear where the pulley is at...

Max's Dad -- the arp # for the studs are the same except the the last # is a 7 instead of a 6. If you need the entire # -- I can get it from work tomorrow.

So there is not an issue with the ybody bracket and the LQ4 block? I did have to grind the hell out of the rear A/C bracket bolt hole to get the block to mount with ybody motor mounts.

Thanks! Hope I don't need it.
