Default What is the best ls1 cam ?

i know it is an old issue but i really want an answer !!
fellows i need help , i contacted MTI asking them about the best cam pushrods springs retainers formula for a stock ls1 heads ... the surprise was G1 ? their G1 is 228/232 , 575/588 113 with pushrods , springs and retainers ..?
what do u think ??
well, i think it is 2 big for a stock heads ..? and the engine will suffocate ?
my friend tried an 580 cam ... i laughed when i saw his performance , it was nothing just to much noise without any acceleration ...

i checked comp cam there were plenty and variety of cams .. donno what to choose for my stock 200 intake heads ??
one guy advised me to get G5X2 cam ?? what is this cam ..?
guys tell me about ur experience ... advise me !! dont forget fo a stock ls1 heads ...

All the people making big numbers with stock heads and bigger cams probably disagree!

I think thier answer is a good one, you might want to go bigger depending on your setup, or smaller depending on what you do with the car.

The 2 very popular cams from Futral are the F11 (228/230 .581/.591 112LSA)
and the F13 (230/232 .595/.585 112LSA) - I think that is the correct spec on the F13, check the website to make sure. He also offers a variety of custom grinds and can grind both those cams on a 113 or 114 LSA, however the idle and driveability with the 112 is VERY good. www.futralmotorsports.com

What are the other mods to your car? the cam is largely gonna depend on what else is done such as torque converter, M6 and what gearing you have. And at least get headers.

well im kinda biased on this answer but i like my cam the best, i put down number in sig with a 12 bolt 4.56 gears on 28" slicks so im probably puting down about 450rwhp and 410rwtq cam only at the moment on a stock rear.
