Default Late model TA gets revenge

Ok so I don't OWN an LS1 but I figured you guys would enjoy this story. I drive an old Datsun with an engine swap and 335hp at the wheels (twin-turbo V6). I went to the track (Portland Int'l Raceway) this week for my first ever passes down the strip with this setup.

I find that I need to run with low boost (7psi) in gears 1 and 2 and then I can run 15psi in 3rd gear (this is important for later),

On one run I raced a six-speed last-gen T/A. Both of us on street tires. Light turns green, and to no surprise this guy jumps out in front (the IRS and my skinny 225's can't compete with live axle and what - 265 section wide rubber?). By 330ft I'm in third and full boost finally start catching this guy and at about the 1/8mi I go on by - I ran a 13.2 to his 13.7.

We go around and line up against each other again. I figure it'll be the same result - as soon as I get into 3rd I'll reel him in. Light turns green, he's a couple car lengths in front, distance remains the same through 1st and 2nd. I shift to 3rd and hit max boost and....the bastard is STILL two car lengths or so ahead! after a couple seconds but still ahead of the finish line I start laughing because I figured out he was spraying. He ended up with a 13.0@107 to my 13.2@113. Talking to him later it was just some older dude in his 50's out for some fun with the juice.

Ya win some, ya lose some...

13.0 is pretty slow for a sprayed LS1. Did he have any other mods? or maybe he was a shitty driver. Good Death. U got a quick little car there keep up the good work

Yeah 13.0 @ 107 is VERY VERY weak for a sprayed LS1. Stocker run those times. Maybe he was just learning how to drive.

I'd say it is the 107 that is weak for a sprayed LS1. In fact, I really doubt he was spraying...

Running a 13 flat on street tires while trapping 107 is pretty damn good, really...

He said he was having trouble with the six speed because the gears were so closely spaced and it was easy to get hung up. He was talking to another friend the same time as me so I wasn't really able to ask about other mods, but it looked stock - even the wheels looked like nothing special and the tires weren't exceptionally wide. It turns out it was two different drivers in the same car - the 13.0 run was made by the owners' friend, and the owner made the 13.7 pass. I also got the MPH's wrong, I had 108 to his 110. Well, he had a low 2.02 60'... if he was on stock street tires... this guy knew what he was doing.

good kill, and good death man.

As for spraying, I know that when I sprayed my first two times with a 75 shot on my tires in my sig, I couldnt hook to save my life. I have only sprayed twice because I still need get tr6's. I spun most of the way through the 1/8 and my 60's were a 2.2 and 2.3 I couldnt find out how to go wot without breakin' traction. I ran a 13.1 @ 115mph, BUT before the spray I hit a 12.9 @ 109 with a 1.90 60, on blad DR's. So more than likely he was not sprayin' or just spraying a 50ish shot, just basing that on his trap. As for my shitty times on drugs... I know that I will probably get flamed, but when I get my dr's I will make up for my shitty times.
