Drag Racing Tech - Gear question

I currently have 4.10 gears in my M6 stock 10 bolt. Will be upgrading soon to 12 bolt/9 inch and was wondering If I have too much gear.

Currently on Nitto's (245/50/16) I'm only able to pull 1.975 60's and then I still can't seem to get traction.

Another reason I ask is I'm currently only runnint 8.45 @ 86ish and I'm hitting the rev limiter in 3rd gear as I cross the finish light.

Should I Look to step down gears to 3.73 or 3.55?

I think the gear is fine, a wider tire and more practice may be what the dr ordered. What rpm are you launching at? Did you do a good burnout? Nittos love to be heated up.

I give it a good smokey burnout. Launching @ about 2k.
My line lock makes is soo much easier to do a burnout now. I do if for 5-8 secs I guess.
