Default New setup running-SLP 402, AFR, MS3

Assembled Friday, and installed Saturday. Set up uses the slp 402, afr heads milled .035 to give 11.6, and the TSP MS3. Other parts include LSX 90mm intake and TB, 85mm MAF, and Edelbrock stepped 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 race header with ORY. Car has the Ram steel flywheel and 4.10s in a ten bolt. I'll have numbers Monday.

Great stuff

Did you port the AFRs at all?

Please post your results in the dyno section

Head were untouched except for milling. Cam: 237/242 .603/.609 113

My plan was for great street manners and good torque.

how does it feel? It will be intersting how much power it turns out with that head. I doubt it is enough head for a 402 but it may surprise me. You milled the heads but did not open the chamber up to a 4 inch bore?

I am very curious to see what kind of numbers this puts down... do you have 12 bolt or 9 inch lined up for when your rear end explodes ?

My thoughts exactly. First time it hooks just a bit>>>>>> Sounds like a nice setup on the motor.

Based on some other postings I saw from you, I assume Mike @ Rapid is building this for you... Based on the price of the shortblock, heads and cam I assume you are at about $6500 in parts... how much is he charging to build the actual motor and what was his impression of the SLP short block after recieving and inspecting it?

Numbers are in the dyno section. (508.7 rwhp and 489.6 rwt) The only initial issue is this thing smokes like crazy when hammered. I'm hoping the rings will seat with some miles, but it does concern me.

Thanks for the reminder about my ten bolt!

Great numbers... my guesstimate was pretty close... only 8HP and 9lb/ft off!!!

What's up with the smoking? Could you post the details of who did what with the assembly? Thanks

max's dad, this is using the high compression ZL402 correct? And was the shortblock installled as shipped or did you, or have someone, go thru it first to check all the tolerances?
I was considering this sb, but seeing that its iron, and that no one want to release any info on internal parts I am skeptical. Besides, its not ring gapped for over 200Shots!

It's a shame that the 1st real review of this product is so negative... A budget 402CI Iron Block for under $4000 would have lot's of potential!

I am happy that I chose to deal with APE for my 408CI that they will be building me this winter
