Default thinkin about gettin an ls1 z28

sup guys. i don't know a whole lot about engines so i figured this would be a good place to ask this question. i'm thinkin about gettin an ls1 fbody..most likely a z28 (easiest..cheapest to find). n i'm just wonderin...with a mild cam...heads and exhaust can i push 420+rwhp. or would i possibly also need a chip?

420 rwhp = n/p
there are no chips(save those for the dips)
we use ls1 edit and hp tuners. (tuning software)

420 with heads and cam will come very very easily.

A 224/224 .581/.581 with a good set of heads will reach the number you are looking for and still be as docile as a labrador puppy.

yeah i just learned how pricy the heads are...the afr's i was lookin at are like 2500 bucks. i didn't think it'd be that much for a set of heads.

But you will lose some streetability. Not a lot, but some.

Heads definately aren't cheap, but you don't have to go for latest and greatest (AFR's) to make good power. Be sure to shop around, a good set of 5.3 can be had for less than $2000, and will probably work perfect for the numbers you are looking for.
