Default What should i do?

Hi people my question is I will have some spending money coming to me soon For my "99 SS A4" and i really dont know what to do with it as far as modding goes. What i was thinking of doing is the following:

1.Cam,Pushrods,Arp bolts,Pacesetter Headers and Y-Pipe,Torque converter, Nx 150 Shot and tuning of course.Would cost me about $4500 Including labor. Would it be safe to assume 500+Hp with this combo?

Or

2.Sts turbo kit Stage 2 with intercooler.I was told i should expect 500-550 Horsepower. This would cost me $6000-6500 Includes Injectors,Tuning and labor.

So what would you guys do if you were me? I really like the sound of the turbo Bov but i really dont know how long the motor or tranny will last because my 99 SS has 119,000 miles on it. The tranny was replaced 1,000 miles ago with a 65,000 mile tranny and I really dont want to spend more than $6000.

Thanks,

The turbo would be cool but on a high mileage stock motor (not forged)i dont think it would hold up to well.

with the cam, headers, stall, N2O ect... you should be very close to the 500 mark maybe higher depending on what other mods you have.

either way you go, dont forget you need a new fuel pump, or at least an inline one

also make sure that your motor is still holding together. I wouldnt want to add n2o to a car with that mileage unless I was sure she was still keeping strong.

$5000 can probably get you a fresh 383ci ls1. A 383 is close to 450-500 hp depending on your set-up. Either way you decide to go the stock tranny usually gives out around 400-450hp so expect to beef it up or swap it out.

I agree with WS6nick. Get a new engine built. It can be done right and still be under $6000.

Give Terry at Racetech Speed a call. www.racetechspeed.com call his cell.

you'll spend over $6000 for a 383+ engine. you need $2000 for heads, $2000 for crank, rods, pistons, $3000 for new rear, $800+ for new clutch/flywheel, if your trans is going you need to fix that, fuel pump, injectors, tuning, installation if you cant do it yourself. i also looked into getting a 383 and it is more expensive than it would appear to be.

Default Nos

Until it blows. Then buy a 408 small block and use your stock heads. Makes it a big torque motor.

no matter what route you go, you NEED to get a stall convertor! and if you are gonna go with n2o, then i would say go with the yank 3600. i have heard nothing but good things about it, check it out on the sponsors website

$6000 is for the complete motor. so techincally you could get a 383 for 6K, but you would still need a complete exhaust, install, tune, and any other supporting mods that are highly recommended (ie. rearend). unless he could do it himself, install on a whole motor ain't cheap

definatly get the stall, and longtubes. you will need them no matter which way you go.

with the turbo, you will REALLY need that stall.

i would just get a bigger cam, along with the other stuff i mentioned, have it tuned, and see how you like it then

p.s. - have you thought about getting some 3.73 gears and nitto's? it would RIP with a big stall!!

then take the rest of the money, go to vegas, and hope you win enough to buy a built 408!!
