Default "Stock motor running 11's...."

IMO, a stock LS1 Fbody motor is: stock heads, cam, rockers, pushrods, rocker arms, running thru stock cast iron exhaust manifolds thru cats. Also, stock throttle body. 346". Any tuning, air intakes, catbacks w/cutouts, any F&R suspension, any tire-wheel configuration, weight reduction to 3350 raceweight MINIMUM, any transmission or converter is acceptable. But, the motor must have those credentials to be called "stock". I'd guess there are very few out there running 11's w/a real stock LS1 Fbody--even at 3350, which is way lighter than the normal Fbody.... Comments? WJ.

The class is basically stock internal, which has been defined as allowing headers and any exhaust, and does include rocker arms. I just ran 11.99 today with a full weight car, but I have headers and no cats, so I am out on your list.

That's still excellent, Ed. What's your raceweight? I've run pretty consistent low 12.30's w/stock c.i. manifolds, and Mufflex OR pipes, w/FTRA,ASP crank pulley, and LS1 edit tuning. Also running 3.23's, Vig 3200 and 26-8.5x15 ET Drags at 3550 raceweight. Put the cats back on & go mid-high 12.40's. My mph is high 108-low 109's. 1.67 sixties most always. I think it would take headers, no cats, and 3.42's, or maybe even 3.73's for me to hit 11.90's. Being a '02 car, think I could do it w/stock heads, cam & rockers, though..... Then again,3/10ths is a lot to pick up w/just headers and a little more gear. I'm only going thru at 4500 now. 3.42's would send me thru at 4800 and 3.73's right around 5200, so.....what do You think? WJ

Hey, I changed sceen names, but still the same guy. I am trying to switch over to this one to match my name on other boards :-)

I am the same guy that just posted the 11 sec stock internal thread.

My car is almost full weight, I took out the passenger and back seat, spare tire, and front sway. That is it. My mods are: ASP pulley (crank and alternator underdrive), 160 t-stat, hooker headers, ORY, borla, full BMR suspension (LCA, reloc brackets, Panhard rod, torque arm) QA1 shocks with front drag springs, 3:73 10 bolt, T-bryne MAF ends, Lid, K&N, SS 4200 TC, free mods, and home brew LS1 edit. I was running on 26X10.50 ET streets with skinnies in the front.

I am stock throttle body and rocker arms, stock heads/cam (never been off car), so I guess the headers/cats are all the put me off your list :-) I had not heard of a through the cats best, so I was just doing whatever I could for 11's! I am sure if you set your car up like this you'd see 11.9x or better. I think the car still has some more in it, and there are a few more bolt ons I can still do to pickup a few HP. I am not going to gut the car though, I like my A/C and leather

Now I get it--couldn't fig our the 2 names at first....I also have good lca's, rt. side airbag, '95 V6 rear springs, lca reloca. brackets. Front and rear shocks are stock, though. I maybe could pick up a little w/Hal's, no? I also have frtswaybar disconnected--and on and Convo-Pro's all around. I would LOVE to go a 11.99 by just adding Hal's and a little more gear THRU the cast iron manifolds! I also run a Flo-tech cutout in int. pipe and a LG Motorsports Y pipe. I run at New England Dragway in N.H. and Lebanon Valley Dragway, near Albany, NY. Best wishes--That's a real nice pic of your car.....You won't forget today real soon... WJ

There is a bunch of them that rough fit your description:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/drag-racing-results/137262-quickest-stock-internals-list-11-890-bump.html

My car went 12.07 @ 111.42 (1.62) meeting all your rules (manifolds/cats).

Went 11.54 @ 115.39 (1.53) with the stock longblock (Stock Internals).

Whoa....Looks like I have to get at least another 100 lbs. off the car, get better than a 1.67 sixty, which has been my best, and pick up at least 1 full mph... Hal's and steeper gear for sure..... Still would like to hit 11's thru the stock manifolds, though. Lots of these cars on the list are real light..... WJ

This is my goal. Cast manifolds and cats all SI. Check sig for progress. That run was with stock clutch and 3.42 gear. 4.10s go in this winter along with LCA brackets and maybe a clutch. New Nittos too. They were bald that run.

I would think most people would define a stock ls1 fbody motor as : the stock shortblock

why allow any air intake, but no headers? they both help the "engine" breath.....the definition of a motor is something that converts one type of energy into mechanical energy and then transmits that energy.....so why allow modifications to any of the drivetrain? just wondering why you would include cats and manifolds; why draw the lines there, and then allow cutouts? if you want to do it just as a challenge for yourself that's cool, but it's not really the correct definition of a stock motor, is it?

just wondering

jdustu: Just what is your definition of a "stock shortblock"? Shortblock consists of engine block, crank, rods and pistons only, I thought....WJ.

i'm sorry, your right, i suppose i meant longblock(shortblock plus heads).....i guess my point was that it seems most people would say a stock motor begins after the intake and ends after the heads.....

Yes. I already did axles and a diff cover. I will keep it till she blows. I also hope to drop 100lbs by spring. Looks like you are on the right track too. These 01-02 cars are strong. I don't even have the LS6 block. My numbers were granny shifting. I hope to get more practice and power shift. I do it on the street, but get nervous at the track.
