Default AFR 205cc 346" Z06 501.3 rwhp, 454 rwtq!

Just got off the dyno here at LeToy Motorsport, Bakersfield, CA.

02 Z06 that A&A Corvette did (see post 490 rwhp afr car in this section)

Car just put down 501.3 rwhp, 454 rwtq! Ive never seen an 346" ls1 car on my dyno do ANYTHING like this before. I think ive had more doubts that anyone about AFR heads until now. I think we have the most conservative dyno around and I expected 475-480 rwhp out of it after it made 490 rwhp at LAPD and A&A

02 Z06
AFR 205cc
490rwhp/443rwtq
234/238 .598/.605 111lsa 109 ICL
11.2:1
Fast 90mm Intake
90mm TB
LG pro long tubes

Only changes are it is has 17" Z06 wheels /w 17" ET Streets on the back (This is the exact way the car runs at the track, no dyno tricks)

Very nice numbers........I have a question and I apologize that it's off-topic. In your sig it says you have a 408 with 8.2:1 compression. How come it's so low since you're not running boost?

That is a lot of torque. More than what some strokers make.

That is alot of power for a mid cammed stock ci motor. I for one don't believe it. But I have been wrong before.

Yea, the 17" z06 wheels with eT streets are about 7lbs each lighter....

before the car was built we saw 11 rwhp gain with the 17's with slicks over the 18's

Neither did I, Ive never seen the kind of #'s on my dyno that they claimed out of this car, then when he came in and dynoed, i expected the true #'s to come out, and it ended up putting these huge #'s...

Not trying to clog up the post, I'm just really curious if he had to flycut for the cam to fit.

Hell ya they were flycut w/ that cam and those heads chopped up to get to 11:2.
What type head bolts were used & what length push rods ?

AFR makes a hell of a head seen them at the sema show. I'm wondering how the 225 mongoose heads would do on a 346. The wheels are rolling for a winter up grade . 225 mongoose heads + bigger cam + 90 mill fast intake= big power for a heads and cam car.

The car has forged pistons with 2cc valve reliefs. Before the short block was changed, the pistons were to be flycut sufficiently to clear the valves for the 225 heads (possible future change), but yes with the cam and heads milled there is not enough pv clearance.
I'm not sure of the pushrod length, believe it is stock; it has a Crane kit with roller rockers, hardened pushrods, retainers, studs, guideplates, Comp 921 springs, Comp R lifters. ARP head studs, Cometic .040 gaskets, heads milled to 60cc chambers, underdrive pulleys,Mezziere EWP, Fast 90 intake port matched to heads, N. Williams 90mm TB, LG lt, heads are stock except for hollow stem intake valves (and previously mentioned items), Halltech Trap, Comp XER cam 234/238 .598/.605 111LSA 109ICL, LS1 Edit, no stone unturned. Sorry, I forgot the 36lb. injectors.

This car is making awesome power but it should also be pointed out that the 501/454 numbers are uncorrected. The SAE Corrected numbers are 494/447 which is still killer!

No. 4750. I'll try to get it on the site soon. One interesting tidbit: the car exceeds 400lbs/ft from about 3875-6600rpm. Max hp just under 6500, carrying strong to 7000 where I shift. This cam/head combo is doing exactly what Tony M. thought it would. I think he might be on to something.
