Turbo and us S/C guys running big boost/big HP can use a better coil because how hard it is to light off the cylinder with extreme cylinder pressures. Big shot N2O guys can benefit from a better coil too for the same reason. An external ignition control hook up is nice too.

Most of the Big Boost guys and Nitrous Guys are running the Truck coils, they have a hotter spark than the Ls1 Coils
They are pretty cheap like 20-30 bucks a piece they are GM Part number 12558693

You can get a set cheaper than that, just have to rent a home depot rental truck....take it home and swap your coils with theirs. Pretty easy and they will never know I like mine

Talked with the MSD guys at SEMA. The Coils are nice looking pieces.
They will use the factory coil rails and will have a provision in the harness for an aftermarket spark box that will be coming in the near future. They also plan to work on some boost ingition style boxes for the FI guys.
The power output of the coils will be better than anything out there now and they will be priced pretty close to the current GM new replacements.

Uh, yeah. Called MSD a LONG time ago and asked them about future LS1 product, and they said they were coming out with these. See the only reason they put these out was for the box that's coming out next...
The stock coils have a safety feature that iif the spark goes over a certain point then they will fry... these coils don't do that...
