Question Traction controll question....

When I drive around with the traction controll ON I can still spin the wheels it takes the unit to activate in about one second. So in my opinion it does not worth nothing.
It was raining today was not easy to start from redlights.
So this is how it supposed to work on a T/A or just GM could not make a good one for us. Or I can go for shop for a new unit?
On my bro's bimmer no way you can do this with the traction on.

The system works faster than 1 second but the
first thing it tries is spark retard and if you insist
on flooring it that will not suffice. Then it tries the
throttle relax, and then if that fails applies the ABS.
If you drove with a more sensible foot then you
might not even notice it working as the spark retard
would just settle down the traction.

Real traction control is tires that don't suck in the rain.

Yeah, the problem is your right foot and the tires. The system appears to be working. Its designed to allow some slip so its not such a nanny-box.

There's two reasons why your bro's bimmer won't do what you described.
1. Much less torque.
2. The ASC system on the bimmer has a separate butterfly in the TB that shuts very quickly and kills the power.

I know they have a good try traction rating, but are they any good in the rain? I dunno.

Yeah, it's especially harsh with the M6 because it pulls it down and bogs with the low revs. The reason it does it though is because GM wanted to allow a little more spin at really low speeds so the traction control wouldn't constantly kick in since their target buyer usually likes to have total control. So basically on pavement, wet or dry, it's more of a stability (keep car pointed in the right direction) system, but on snow, ice, gravel, or any other type of slick surface it acts more as a get you moving system.

The way it works (simple as I can make it…) is like this: traction control decides on a maximum amount of wheel spin based on a bunch of different things, if both wheels go over that spin, it applies the throttle relaxer and takes complete control of the throttle blade (dump the clutch in the snow and you'll really feel this kick your foot). If only one wheel goes over that max spin (think about one wheel on gravel and the other on pavement) then it'll apply however much brake it thinks is necessary on that one spinning wheel. It's possible to get the throttle relaxer and one wheel braking if you manage to spin the wheel on pavement too. Basically, once a wheel reaches that maximum spin, in 0.01s the traction control decides what to do and the wheel spin is controlled 0.1s later. The problem you're experiencing is that it's allowing more spin at low speeds, not the reaction time. Only suggestion I have is to be easier with the gas or put it to the floor and let traction control kick in as fast as it can.

Nittos, any DR/ street slick is going to suck *** in wet weather. get new all weather tires, or get used to it. I have nitto 555's, & its been raining alot lately. My ASR hasnt been going crazy like yours but my stall helps with a smooth take off (unless i lay down the gas).
