I can't speak for everyone else, although I feel the looks of a 4th gen are more ballanced if the rear is dropped 1/4" to 1/2" more than the front.
If you like the looks of it, I say go for it. You build a car for yourself, not the rest of the community.

I have the pro-kit springs in the front and stock springs w/ a coil and a half cut out of them on the rear. This raised the back of my car up about 3/4" in the rear and about 1/2" at the y-pipe over the pro-kit rear springs. It doesn't have the saggy look any more. I live in the Garland area if you want to meet up sometime and take a look at it.

I don't really have any good shots of the car from the side but here a couple that can give you an idea... the springs I'm using are stock LS1 springs that were cut by a machine shop. The fronts were cut down 1.5 coils and the back 1 coil.
Can't tell you exactly how much they dropped the car but it appears the front are roughly 2"s and the back about 1.25"s. I know it sounds pretty ghetto to be riding around on cut springs but they ride just fine and I haven't had a problem out of them in the 7+ months that I've had them installed. I also changed out the stock shocks with Monroe's. Of course the ride quality isn't anywhere near what you would have with some higher end shocks/springs but I'm not complaining about what I have right now
I do get quite a bit of attention with the setup... I've only been outside of my car one time while it was moving (let a friend drive it around the parking lot at a cruise-in) and I thought it looked pretty wicked combined with the sound of the cutout open.
