Default Low coolant light - no engine check light

I have a low coolant light on - no check engine light is on however. I have refilled the reservoir which did not help.

When that did not work, I removed the cap when the engine was cold. Then I ran it until the engine warmed and the thermostat opened. I thought an air bubble could have formed blocking coolant.

The engine temp guage is normal and the engine is not running hot/cold.

Any ideas?

A few weeks ago I changed some other sensors including; cam sensor, knock sensor, oil pressure switch.

Is it possibel that my engine temp/coolant sensor is also bad; where is this located? On the side of the block on the drivers side in front?

the sensor is located in the passsanger side of the radiator, its a rectangle about 2.5 in long 1.5 inches wide, try to clean the coper wire inside the sensor or just go get one from the local dealer; it was like 40 bucks i think.
hope that helps

Unplug it. It'll come on again even with a new sensor. I went through this with my `99 and the only way to get rid of the light for good is to unplug the sensor. `00+ doesn't even have the "low coolant" sensor anymore because of this problem.

Yeah, it's on the passenger side of the radiator. You can remove the battery to get a better veiw/better access to it.

Just clean it and get rid of the dexcool...thats what messing it up...dexcool gunks up the level sensor. They work fine when you do this.

I thought Dexcool is the pink stuff that is the only coolant that is supposed to be used in our cars.

How do you clean the old sensor; water?

Just unplug it.

It will return even if you replace it with a new sensor. I speak from experience.

The '00+ F-bodies don't even have this sensor in their radiators. GM must have been aware that those sensors had issues with proper functioning.

I have this same problem. I cleaned mine, but a day later the light came back on. Guess I will just unplug it now.
