ok guys wich one do you all think is best for an ls1, with a 224, 224 cam, their pro magnum lifters or their high energy lifters???

There is only 10-15 bucks difference between em so just get the better ones.

I am with Bo. However I would caution against running them with as little lash as comp recomends.

If the High Energy are the "R" lifters I personally would stay away unless they are absolutely needed.

Lash is the preload preload pn the lifter and there are many contradicting amounts being thrown around right now for that lifter. Just to much of a pain in the *** MHO.

is that only on teh high energy or all of them, if i go with the magnum will it be ok, or should i do something when i get them for the lash or what ever to be good??? please escuse my noobness i think i was thrown ou of the noob section to early. lol

I belive the magnum are like the stock ones torque to 20lb. and be done with it.

the pro magnum lifters are the "R" series. The high energy is a stock OEM replacement type. The "R" series requires only .002"-.004" preload hot, so I would do about .008"-.010" cold. Lash and preload is not the same thing. Don't confuse the two..it will get you into some trouble.

The R lifters have a heavy duty locking retainer that holds it together and has nicer rollers on them. Other than that the ones that I am looking at they are identical(cc850 vs cc875).

ok now iam confused i am getting the pro magnum now acording to comp cam they should be dipped in w 30 for like a half our before being installed, now what else do i need to do?? would i just put them on like if i was putting stock replacements. I am not the most experiecne gear head around as you all can tell actually i don't even think i cuallifie as a gear heal lol so how bout setting me straight fellows. what do i need to do???

Clean em real good out of the box and soak em in some good 30w like Castrol or what ever then slide em in.

the comp "R" lifters(875-16) are the ones that have the small preload. The 850-16 you can just torque to spec. 22ft/lbs

I went with the stock OEM replacement, the 850's as I retained the stock rockers and plan on using a mild cam.

Don't forget the pushrods which are probably the weakest link in the LS1/6 valvetrain, Comp makes the excellant Hi Tech's which are available in a variety of lengths to suit your needs. Comp also has a handy pushrod length checker which is well worth buying.

Well tell em what you guys think of these. I got a 224,224 Thunder racing cam, i want to get the pro lifters along with hardland sharp rockers, they look sweet and seem to have a pretty desent design, and i guess i'll check the comp cam pushrods ( originally i wanted to go with thunder racing pushrods but i'll check comp out.)

Ok guys,
1- the 850-16 CC lifters will handle any lobe and lifts up to .600 very comfortably, so 875-16 CC "R" lifters are not needed.
2- CC recomends that adjustable rockers are used with Comp "R" lifters. (pro-magnums) so do not use them with non adjustable rockers, "search and you'll read why"
3- TR p-rods are fine and I believe cheaper.
