Default 1&3/4" vs. 1&7/8" Longtubes.....

Question's probably been asked before, but I never heard comments...Which LS-1 motors like the 1+3/4" headers, and which motors like the 1&7/8"? Thanks. WJ

1 7/8 is basically for non street legal drag cars and/or its for ls1's that have been bored n' stroked at or over 383 i've heard, 1 3/4 headers are good for up to like 550+ rwhp.

If you plan to stick with stock cubic inches, 1" 3/4 long tubes will work. If you have plans for larger motor or a big power adder in the near future you can consider 1" 7/8's.

i went with the 1 7/8" kooks headers because i plan on spraying this spring, plus i plan on doing a bigger motor combo or power adder in the future, it was harder to get them in, i had to drop the k member on the lift, so if you plan on doing subtle mods on the stock cubes, i'd reccomend the 1 3/4" because you wont see that much of a gain with the bigger tubes until you get alot done or very slight in the higher rpms

I have Thunder Racing 1 7/8" and they are doing fine on my stock c.i. heads/cam setup. They might actually be beneficial when I put the Ron Jeremy in the motor in December.
