Default rebuild price for 4l60e

my 4l60e has began to slip in 3rd gear, which is understand is pretty common. about how much will it be to rebuild it with stock componets, i only have boltons and it will probably stay that way.

It varies. I have seen people get quoted $500-$1500 for "stock" rebuilds. Leaving it stock leaves the door open for a similar failure. You should shop around and find somebody familiar with these transmissions. Somebody who can fix the problems and not just throw parts at it.

well the shop that has done all my work says they can rebuild stock for $800, put upgraded 3rd clutch packs and other odds and ends for $1000 and for $1500 put a converter in it. i know they do good transmissions bec he has built 4l60e trans that take 650 hp and show no wear. i was just wondering if this is a good price?

Holy **** you guys are getting ripped off.... or you dont know anyone........ Ive about had it with mine so this is the last rebuild for me..... but i use the TCI rebuild kit with all new clutches with an extra clutch per gear, new bands, and straight steels.... for under $200 shipped to my door.... then a local guy i know who knows his **** in trannys does the work for me for $250.... My buddy that just moved to Houston used to do the work for me for $200...... i have to pull the tranny and bring it to both of them though.... but the tranny only takes me about 30 min. to pull... and thats on jack stands...... search around and ask your friends if they know anyone..... thats just my .02 though.

Can you give more detailed info on the TCI rebuild kit? Do they have their own stuff or do they sell like the Z-pack and other upgraded items I see people mention all the time?
