EFI Live just upped the ante today. Upgrade with 4 VINS, and you get to keep your old cable. New buyers get 4 VINS during the intro period. Additional VINs up to 8 VINs per cable. Vins locked to cable, not the CD.

EFILive has really done it in for themselves as far as their licensing structure is concerned. They have a good quality scanner, but their timing to market and terrible licensing is going to cut their sales to 1/20th what they could be.
Who wants to deal with a LS1-EDIT style of licensing scheme?

Well, that's why they make different flavors for different people. I for one, am standing in line for the update. I greatly prefer the Edit style licensing over the HPT set-up.
I'm a shadetree tuner, and this style greatly suits me. I can tune all three of my neibors Tahoe's that happen to be different years for far less w/ Edit or Live than I could w/ HPT. Plus, I can update my license in 30sec over e-mail.
It doesn't get much better for me. So enjoy your year locked HPT , I use what works best for me.

"Add more PCM licenses instantly via email. You do not need to return your cable to EFILive."
Or did you mean the other mob?.

(probably not much point writing this repsonse - since it will probably be deleted anyway... Although under LS1Tech's rules I see no reason why it should be.)
I don't want a "tuner battle", been there done that with the scan tool.
I would just like people, to stick to the honest facts.
If I see somtheing that is misleading, intentionally or not, I will reply otherwise I'm keeping out of this completely.
While it may be necessary to send in an LS1Edit cable for an expensive update you don't need to with EFILive FlashScan.
With EFIlive, it's just an email based update. 10 seconds and you're done - all on the same cable.
No need to resinstall software like you need to with HPTUners*.
Nor any need to juggled multiple installs of software like HPTuners*.
Nor any need to juggle multiple cables like you need to do with HPTUners*.
* this information was supplied directly from Keith (Magnus) from HPTuners.
This information may have changed with the recent scrambling to change licensing structures, so please correct me if I'm wrong.
I've always wondered but never had the oportunity to ask...
Under HPTuners model/year licensing scheme, which has it's advantages for certain people, Do you charge a customer for two model/year licenses for different model/years that have identical calibration specifications?
Look forward to your reply. Once I know the answer to that question then I can better answer the enquiries we are getting about it.
Regards
Paul
