Default my SS vs 96 viper GTS

i am trying to get input from everyone here as to what i can expect from this race that will take place on thursday night. my mods are in my signature and i am planning on running a short belt to pick up a little more power. all the viper has is a cat back. i know they came with 440 hp, but as far as i understand they weigh alot more than fbodies. i saw him race a 01 z06 that had mild bolt ons and the z06 beat him by like half a car. as far as i know the guy isnt the best driver and neither am i, but i think things could be interesting. i am racing him at a low mph roll and hopefully i cant edge him out. i will be video taping the whole race so ill need someone to host the video.

I think if you race from a dig you might be able to take him but from a roll it will be a lot tougher. Good luck and post the win or loss.

I think your work is really cut out for you. Honestly I dont think you have much of change unless the other driver is really terrible. Good luck either way.

a gts viper weighs less than a f body. they weigh 3350 w/o driver i believe. my car is 3440 w/o me and the back seats, seatbelt, hatch cover are out. a gts viper stock make 415-425 RWHP.
i race one, he stayed with me threw 1st, i hit 2nd and started walking, i hit 3rd and he was a more than a few cars back, i dont know if he let off or i beat him that badly.

i say you will loose but anything can happen on the street. good luck!

also, he has some heavy *** wheels with almost bald tires so i am relying on my good traction and powershifting the hell out of it to get moving before he hooks and takes off.

What kinda tire are you on? I would say say you can drive pretty good with the time in your sig and your mods.

I think he will edge ya out but it may be closer then ya think.

Since he's not the best driver in the world and you have a real ace in the hole with the MT Drag Radials go from a dig. If you can get out of the hole fast and hammer down you will more than likely be able to hold him thru the quarter mile. Chances are he's gonna spin thru most of 1st with the big V10 torque. Good Luck.

Tell him if you race from a roll he has to race from a dig. That's fair.

the gts has 450 flywheel hp whereas the rt10 has 415 hp for 1996. The gts is a bit lighter than the older rt10's- so it's a bit faster. On the higher speeds the gts has better aerodynamics. With okay tires he has a bit of an edge by about 2 or 3 tenths, with drag radials almost a 1/2 sec in the 1/4 mile. All in all it's a drivers race. If you powershift, you have an edge as vipers are tricky to powershift.

it should be interesting, but he got the hp advantage and weight. It just going to be a drivers race. whoever screws up on the launch and shifts will lose the race
