MSD finally released a blaster coil for LS1/LS6 motors. Direct bolt-in, will comply with all factory wiring ad electronics while offering a higher output spark. The coil also delivers multiple spark. The coils will also have a seperate connection for an upcoming LS1/LS6 ignition controller. They are sold individually. CARB approval pending. PN 8245. I am going to call and get pricing when the open in an hour...

hmmmm id like to know more about this for when i do my cam and stuff. what other kinda upgrades are there for ignition or computer, besides tuning. if any. sounds like this would be nice though

The price MSD told us at SEMA is very close to the cost of GM new replacements.

Holy crap....if they are that expensive I should just buy a new car! What do GM replacements cost? 8 x $50?

I just checked....GM list price is $63.75. MSD will be finding out very quickly that they needed a more reasonably priced solution. The only people that will buy those are pros, or people with too much bloody money.

I can get them for around $75.00 each.

I just bought a factory replacement for $37, $40 with shipping. That would be $320 for a set of coils and that is way too much for the little power you MIGHT pick up.

Definitely a waste. Grab a set of 5.3's if you so desire to swap them. It'll cost you less. $75 per coil....

The only advantage i see to these coils is the connector for adding a msd ignition box with boost retard capability (timing vs psi) and nitrous retard capability

Just make sure they are the correct coil, the square one not the round one, my 5.3 came with the round ones, and I run the square truck coils on my car

Would they be worth if you didn't already have a set of coils? I am piecing my set-up together. Aiming for 1100 HP w/ turbo.

Considering you can get truck coils for about half the price, and if your going boost you will have either edit or hp tuner or an aftermarket controller. So no reason to get expensive coils that need the MSD controller to take advantage of any of the features you won't need.

quite a few of us bigger turbo setups are well over 1100 at the motor on factory coils.
