I can't give you the part # for the LS2 block, but I can tell you that I have them in stock along with everything else you will need. Let me give you a little inside on something we just learned. The knock sensors are not only in a different location, and lok different, they actualy read different. The LS1/LS6 computer can not read the LS2 knock sensors, there for you have to just turn them off. I am sure there are alot of people already doing this, but this might save some time when you go to retune your PCM.

No, you can't run the LS1/6 valley cover. The block doesn't have provisions for knock sensors in that location. You can either make a template of a LS1 valley cover and cut it out of aluminum like we did on a couple cars here after deleting the knock sensors. Then you just zero them out in the PCM. That likely will be the case for Harold's situation too.

The LS2 knock sensors are located down lower on the block, on opposite sides along the crankshaft instead of above the camshaft.

So you're pretty much stuck with running the engine with no knock sensors if you use an LS1 PCM, then?

That is correct. A lot of the big cube, big cam or solid roller cam cars have to zero them out anyway because they get freaked out. Once you get the tuning figured out you really can run without them. It just makes it risky in cases where you are causing any detonation.

Why cant I just thread the LS1 knock sensors into the side of the block?

Like KJ said, it's a different sensor all together. The current one is a small thread into a pedestal. The new ones are completely different. Plus the sensitivity is going to be completely different too. I wouldn't suggest it because the PCM software is not optimized to handle that. It's looking at a known equation based on it's current location not the new one. I'd rather zero them out then try that.

Could it be possible to adjust the signal coming from the ls2 knock sensors so that the ls1 pcm would read it? Like with a set of resistors, etc. wired into the extension that you use on the ls1 harness to connect to the ls2 knock sensor location?

I suppose that one would need to know exactly what the output voltage signals for the ls1 and ls2 sensors were, but after that it "might" not be that hard . . .

Why doesn't someone fab up some aluminum adapters so the LS1/6 sensors can be screwed into the block? :thinker:

Personally I'm willing to run without them.

Someone can certainly try and experiment. Little value in doing it IMO. You can get the tuning done without it just fine.
