Default Going to do a good copmarison of Grott/QTP 1 3/4 headers vs. Grott/QTP 1 7/8 headers.

I just recently dynoed my car with my 3 year old 1 3/4 headers Grottyohann headers n/a (see #s below), and just ordered a set of 1 7/8 QTP headers which will be on later next week.

Although I'm dynoing on a different day, the weather will be identical, and the only change will be the larger primaried headers so hopefully the conditions will be consistent. I really don't know what to expect (maybe a small loss down low and a small gain up top n/a, but more power all over on bottle?). I'm thinking my bottle will like the larger primaries more than all motor will. Anyone care to guess what the results will be both under the curve and peak?

I'll be watching this closely, I've been thinking about doing a set of 1 7/8's with some type of merge collectors on them. What type of collectors will the ones you bought have? Also, the rest of the exhaust will be the same?

Gomer, I'm not doing the hi-velocity merge collectors, so the collectors themselves will be similar on both sets of headers. The rest of the exhaust will remain exactly the same (unless a slight adjustment in angles is needed to fit these, or something leading to a rework, etc)....but it's still going to be a 3" true dual setup dumping at the axles.

Not to get your thread off topic, but what do you think about high velocity merge collectors?

Dealing specifically w/ QTPs which come with hi-velocity merges or in the regular style, I have yet to see the high velocity merge collectors make more power than their standard header, so to me the extra $$$ probably isn't worth it.

I read that a 346 picked up more power everywhere with with 1 7/8" headers but all the stock cubed fast cars seem to be running 1 3/4". It will be very interesting to see the results.

I really wish I could find evidence of what you say, but I have yet to find a direct comparison between the two.

I am going to assume like you. Loss of low/mid power and a small increase up top N/A. The bottle should see good gains. Now, on to my major question: Why open up the exaust even more? I know everyone has there resons, but like I said before, there is already to much exaust duration in your camshaft, plus the nitrous exaust port, then big headers, and the dumped duals. I think you will loose major TQ. I hate to say it, but with what you are going to be running, you would need a reverse split cam to make good or at least a single plane. JMO....

How long till you have the results? I guess a power gain through even it it is minimal, I dont think you will lose power.

Car Craft did a comparo of TTS headers on a stock ls1 crate engine. Gained a small amount going to 1 7/8 from 1 3/4. Small but a gain none the less on a stock motor

I've got Kooks 1 7/8 in. Headers and I'd love to see how much power I might be losing on a stock cube motor...

Quick Reply: Going to do a good copmarison of Grott/QTP 1 3/4 headers vs. Grott/QTP 1 7/8 headers.
