Default With this cam ...

With the addition of the 1 3/4 MAC mid-lengths, MAC ORY and Yank SS3600, what do you think this TR cam kit will make in RWHP/RWTQ. What times do you think it's capable of with NITTO 555 drag radials or ET Streets?

I guess the next reasonable question is, "How much longer will my rearend last?". Anyone have this similar setup? Care to share your numbers with me?

Low 12's with drag radials, trapping around 111-114mph. You'll make about 360rwhp.

low 12's maybe (big maybe) high 11's... but that is with the perfect track and driving and DA. but remember 12's is fast!

I dyno'd 335 RWHP 350 RWTQ before I added the Jantzer TB and LS6 Intake. I also had a mom-n-pops welding shop to weld a elbow bend into the right side of my Y-pipe. The guy who dyno'd and tuned my car said that it was by far the biggest restriction I had at the time.

With the Jantzer TB, LS6 Intake and since I'm replacing the shorties with 1 3/4" MAC mid-length headers and ORY, with the converter locked, I'm hoping for more than 360 RWHP. Anyone think I might dyno higher? ET's are more important to me than numbers, but numbers are good to have.

Anyone else think I could break into the high 11's with my setup ... with ideal track conditions? Any of you done it with my setup?

How about with the setup in my sig on 245/50/16 Goodyear Eagle F1 DS-G3 tires? What kind of 1/4 mile ET and 0'-60' times will I get if the track conditions are good. Also, should I heat the tires a lot when staging?

Hey Jeb, glad to see you ditch the shorties.
I think 11's are a possiblity. Check my sig. Same basic setup as yours. Mild converter, headers, exhaust, lid, ported TB, CAI, ET streets (but 3.23 vs 3.73) and I ran 12.6 untuned on LS1 intake. I feel 11's are mine as soon as I get a cam and tune, especially if I can LS6 intake/UD pullies. I see no reason you can't sneak into the 11's.

Edit: just to claify....11's if you get a sticky tire, UD pullies, and your tune is either close or redone with the macs. You WILL need a good drag radial or ET streets, though.

Mine's a daily driver with stock 16" wheels, so, I'm putting 245/50/16 Goodyear Eagle F1 DS-G3 tires on the rear. I've had a lot of F-Body guys tell me that you have to heat the s**t out of Nitto's to get 'em to stick. Would the same hold true with the DS-G3's to gte them to stick? I'm not comparing them to Nitto's because I don't think they would stick near as good as the Nitto's will. Maybe if I drop about 10 lbs of tire pressure I might could hook good enough to hit 11.99 on a cool night if I heat the hell out of the tires.

BFG DR's stick damn good. They're good for about 5 to 7k miles of daily driving.

BFG DR's is what I was looking at ... at first. The problem is that they don't make them in a 16" size that would benefit me. I'd have skinnies on the rear ... LOL!!!!

A lot of folks here seem to like the GS-D3's about as good as the BFG DR's.

Nittos stick WAAAAAAAAAAY better than a non drag radial. With a converter I would consider a drag radial a *must*. For street driving the nittos will stick very, very well. You do have to heat them up a lot at the track, but they stick very well then. You won't get the traction that you need without getting at least a drag radial. I got 10k miles out of my nittos, they are better in the rain than the BFG's and last longer because the BFG's are a little softer.


Edit: I could have got more than 10k miles out of my nittos, a lot of people get 15k, but there were extenuating circumstances.

From my experience, BFG DR's stick better than Nittos. I've run both. I doubt the BFG street tires you're talking about would stick better than Nittos.
What's wrong with heating up Nittos? Excessive drivetrain wear you worried about?

I guess I still have two choices because BFG DR's don't come in a wide enough tire for my stock 16" rims. Kumho's are the widest I can find in a streetable sticky tire ... 255's ... don't like them so they're coming off ... ... bye-bye Kumho's!

From what I can see, it's gotta' be the 245/50/16 Goodyear Eagle F1 DS-G3 tires on the rear OR 245/50/16 Nitto 555's. Anyone ever drag race with both the DS-G3's AND the Nitto's?

The nittos are your best bet. They are the best all around street tire. They have decent tread life, safe in the rain, and are quite sticky. Without really heating them up at the track, just spinning clean and getting them oh so slightly warm, I got 2.0 60's no problem. I'm know there was more in it if I really got them hot and sticky like you should.
There really is no better choice for a street/strip use tire than the nittos. Both the BFG and M/T DR's are softer, relatively unsafe in the rain, and will wear out more quickly. Any non drag radial will not be near as sticky.

Best 60' I could do with GSD3s was 2.0 before wheelspin city. I have a stock converter.

Anyone else? I think I'll go ahead and buy the DS-G3's for street usage.

Maybe I'll also look around for a pair of 15" rims with some sort of Drag Radials or slicks ... maybe a used set with good tread that won't cost too much money ... to put on the rear when I head to the track - to get good 60'/ET times. Hopefully they won't break by rearend.

I posted a reply at noon today, but, it's disappeared. I will probably get Nitto's with my 15" track rims ... the GS-D3's are for daily driving ... just afraid of any drag radial in the rain.
