With your stage 2 ports I would have gone with a larger cam, and tooken advantage of your ported LS1 heads! (lucky bastard) 280+cfm!!! There are cam only lsx's out there in the 400rwhp but i'm sure they don't get equal gas mileage and drivablity as yours? Can you tell us why you choose a milder cam in your setup? Great numbers though....at least better than mine...

your right... comp said the same thing.... but an engine builder i was working with on this said with the 99 rod bolts, id be better off leaving the limiter where it is at 6200...
and we are guessing im only leaving 5-10 peak hp on the table.

i know.... but living here in CA my hands are tied... COMP said this is about as big as i can go to pass smog, and may still require a de-tune when smogging....
i really wish i could go bigger! maybe after i smog ill swap in a bigger cam! 228 or so.

ouch...! it was tuned.... i gained about 10rwhp and 15rwtq with a tune....
and the cut netted almost 20rwhp and 25rwtq!
(it was running pretty ruff before the tune!, the tune made a HUGE diff. !!!)

so what is wrong with my AFR????

i was thinking a pulley and maybe an 80mm TB, and raise the limiter to 6300 would put me around 410-415 rwhp?

anything else i should do? or is there anything im missing???

thanks for the input guys!

if i remember right GM didnt upgrade the rod bolts till 2001... the ones before are weeker and i guess have been known to be the weak link in the bottom end when reving above 6300 rpm.

A pulley should put you over the top... but you do need some more tuning. After looking at your graph again it shows that you are right around 12.7 and peaking HP with a 12.3, thats kinda rich. If you can get your tuner to hit 12.9-13.0 you WILL see 400 w/o the pulley and TB.

i was wondering when you were going to post up the final numbers? what did scott charge for a tune? a buddy of mine that we installed a FMS cam in his truck told me scott quoted him 750 for a tune. i agree with thechief, it could stand a tad more tuning and smooth out the AFR. also you should of at least raised the rev limiter up and see the full curve and then make your decision on where you want to shift at rather then just leaving it at stock and assuming the loss. a pull to 6500-6600 on a dyno isnt going to your motor.

i dont really dont have faith in many of the local tuners around here until Tony Mamo gave me the contact info for his personal tuner so i plan on using him.

i think i might know why the AFR is inconsistant.... when SCOTT was doing the tune he did it all with the cut-out closed... even though it made more power with it open....
i told him i drive more with it closed and open so thats how he tuned it.....
now after his tune, the dyno numbers he gave me were 381 rwhp 351 rwtq!
and when i saw that i figured that it was because the cut-out was closed.
(and maybe the dyno?) .... so i didnt want to post any numbers until i re-tested the car with the cut-out. (the car felt alot stronger than that!)

so i wonder if that would affect the AFR? it was tuned to be closed, so when it is open maybe the extreme change in back pressure has an affect?
does that sound at all possible?????????

thanks for the reply JRP, that does aound like a good way to do it.....
maybe if i dyno it again ill set the limiter at 6500 and see the top of the curve!

-so how is your car coming along JRP?

-oh, and i got my tune for $500 before he raised his prices!
