Default Q for the pro's

What would be the effects of a Rebuilt 4L60E with the band clearence set up on the tight side verses being set up on the loose side of the OE specs? How would the 1-2 shift characteristics vary?

I think if a trans builder responds he would say a loose band would slap in harder and a tight side clearence would be cleaner and crisper and not so punchy.lets here from the guys that build the high HP 4l60Es daily.

The clearence has very little to do with the application of the band, but more to do with the release of the band & the 3-4 clutch apply on the 2-3 shift.

Okay here we go....simple answer....the closer to the drum the band is the faster the shift....to much clearance and you get long dragged out shift. So if your on the tight side you get a fast "chrisp shift". Loose side you will get a long "soft" shift. To tight you'll have band drag...becarefull...have fun! Hope this helps............ Dave
