Im about to start building the top end of a 350 in a newly aquired nova. Im not sure on compression, but im guessing at 9-9.5:1. Im looking for about 400-450 hp at the motor. Iv got about 1500 for budget for heads and maybe intake. My question is, what heads/intake should i look for. Thanx in advance.

canfield also makes a nice set of heads. My old 355 combo with a victor jr intake 650 dp holley and 518/536 crane solid came made 330 hp at the wheels and ran 11.9-12.2 depending on time of year.

Other heads to consider are dart, world product sportmans and trick flow. I've had good experience with world products as well.

Put Edelbrock Performer RPM heads on it,for the price you cant beat em...Canfields are a lil better but like 500 dollars more, and AFR's are probably the best SBC street head and they are about another 500 more than canfields...

On my buddies 70 Camaro we run a 355 totally cast iron bottom end, comp roller cam kit, edelbrock e-tec 200 heads and a Vic Jr intake with a 750 carb goes 12.1 at 110 in a full weight car..Makes about 450 at the flywheel..

I'd say Canfields are about 300 more than RPM's but they flow a little better and have more room to port on as well. AFR's are nice but I don't think they are better, but that's my biased opinion ;)

My car weights 3500 lbs with me so by no means a lightweight either. The compression is what will hurt you a little. I'd run a thin head gasket, as it will help if you decide to run a decent sized cam!

Yes I know the Canfields are bigger which is what makes them bigger, are they only 300 more? Ah Well best bang for the buck I think is Edelbrocks..

To Each their own!

from what the previous owner told me, its a 4 bolt main. and were running the th350 thats in the car. it also har a 12 bolt rear with 4:11 gears. yea iv looked at the site already and they make some good power. im gonna see what my dad wants to go with, if he wants to spend the money on the heads, ill shoot for afr's. otherwise i might look into edelbrock performer rpm's if we wanna stay down oh the budget.

I can sell you a combo that was good for 12.1@115.6 on the motor and 10.64@126 on a 170 shot. this was in a 3300# vehicle. It was a 355 with heavy pistons coming out to 9.7:1 with the 64cc head. Edelbrock performer RPM's with a Comp cam n20 grind 520/540 with 326/248@.050 with a 113lsa. 1.5 rollers, heads are also complete and with pushrods. All for $1500. This is with the good comp valve springs too.

I ran the rpm cam in my 355 before swapping to a crane solid when I swapped cylinder heads. It has a nice idle (nice to me means lumpy) ;) with 488/510 lift and 220/228 on duration I believe. Ran well to 6200 rpms in my combo with old style world products sportsman iron heads a victor jr and 650 dp and it ran 12.37 at 107 mph best.
