Last nite i went to start my car (cold). it didn't crank or struggle, just fired right up and immediately stalled. (not even a second after hearing it kick over). i turned the kety off, re-primed the fuel rails and started it again.

it kicked over, then chugged and surged (the same thing big cam cars do when you start them warm, surge, almost stall, surge, almost stall.)

after about 3 seconds the motor settled into a normal idle and ran perfectly fine afterwards.

i took it out tonite to put some gas in it, and it started right up and ran at the typical cold ~1000 RPM idle, just as normal. drove a couple blocks to the gas station, shut it off, started it back up and it still ran fine.

the voltmeter looks good and i can hear the fuel pump cycling normally.

anyone ever have this happen? could it just be a fluke thing?

either a fluke or your vats system is going out on ya?

i dunno i think if the vats was going out it wouldn't have started at all before it died. add another thing to the "just in case" list though. thanx.

Mine's did something simular about a year ago. It only did it once and I aven't had any problems since. I think it's just a hick-up somewhere in the pcm or something. I wouldn't worry about it unless it becomes a common occurance.

I would guess a fluke hopefully it won't happen again. I know this isn't what happened to you but when I am low on gas and try to start it it takes a while for the fuel to get through the lines.
