Default My 98 TA vs. 3000GT (VR4 orSL)??

Theres a red 3000GT driving around town, its red with a large (stock) spoiler, No idea if its a VR-4 or SL, looks to be a 98 or 97. From pics Ive looked up on the internet I would have to say a SL, but im not sure. Ive come close to racing it before till I saw a cop down the road and desided not too.. but I saw him today and chances are Ill see him again, and he seems to wanna race by the way he acted last time, so what are my odds of winning?? mines a Stock 98 Trans Am A4.

If it's a SL don't bother racing him.You would just be wasting gas, But as far as the VR-4 goes stock for stock you will defintely win. My guess is by a 2 or 3 cars maybe more.

they are decent cars but like he said you could also proly take intake/exhaust vr4s on very good conds but if the person knows how to launch an awd car well............good luck it will be close

yea, they're nothin special. a friend of mine had a 93 vr4 5-speed (i think 96 was the first year of the 6), i was not at all impressed when he took me for a ride. and the sl's are fwd with around 220bhp, if u had a v6 then it would be a good race, but no contest in an ls1.

Thing is, the VR-4 should take you off the line, but you'll catch and pass him. The cars are high 13's low 14's stock. You shouldn't have a problem. The SL would be a waste of time. No turbo, and they're heavy just like the others. Plus it's wrong wheel drive only on the SL model.

the only one to worry about is the vr4 version, but only if it's modified.

Theres one out here in Houston that runs low 11's. They aren't fast stock, but can be pretty quick when modded.

Vr-4's say Twin Turbo near the back of the side windows, 94-91 Vr-4's have the third tail light in the spoiler , sl's don't. (i have a 93 3000GT Vr-4 , i've only ran it in the eighth mile and i ran a 8.8 @75 mph and a 1.9 60ft. my Camaro ran a 8.9 @ 83 mph and a 2.3 60ft on street tires. Stupid San Diego lost carlsbad raceway so all we got down here is two 1/8 mile tracks.
