Default wheels causing abs problems

I have 235/45/17's on the front and 275/40/18's on the back. This is causing my abs to stop working and even making my brakes have a hard time working. The backs tires are new nittos which cost me a lot so i dont want to change them.

What am wondering is if 245/45/17's will be ok or do I need 245/50/17's which are almost exackly the same size as the back. The only problem is the latter size is harder to find. How much of a difference can I have between the two before I start having problems?

Currently the back is 26.7''
Current Front is 25.3
245/45/17 25.7
245/50/17 26.6

Thanks for any help.

yeap... those will give issues.
Ideally, you would want to have 275/35-18 for the back that will bring the sizes much closer (1" smaller)... cause having 275/40-18 is too much, especially if you keep close to stock sizes for the front.
245/45-17 will have same OD as stock.

When I put my 28s on the back my abs goes "inop" and sometimes my BRAKE light stays on. If I put the factory tires on there it all goes away. I undertstand about the abs but why the brake light?

Thanks for the help. These 245/50/17 26.6'' are almost the same as my back but larger than stock. Will I have a problem there or is it just when you have 2 different sizes?

The problem occurs when the front and rear tires are different diameters.

Thanks, I was hoping to keep the extra sidewall in back to help my launch.

Does anyone elses BRAKE light stay on also? When I put the stock tires back on there it goes away.

I actually emailed hptuners about this issue. They said they would put it on their "to look at" list.
