Default High Stall TC & Tranny Durability....

How would a 2800-3200 stall TC in my GTO affect the durability of the trans?

It should be fine and hold up good. I have been using a 3800vig and have had no problems so far.

cooler and shiftkit are reccomended. with those and tuning i would say the durability should be close to stock. just a verter and your asking for trouble- they create ALOT of heat. especially since you are not going to waste your $ on anything under a 3500 stall speed

How much more heat does a 2800-3000 stall TC create?

I believe you would see (say) ~90% efficiency under
higher slips (the ~3000RPM are considered "mild" and
have reasonable peak efficiencies but when you slip
you are not too efficient.).

So call it a 10% loss. 10% of 300HP flywheel output
(just by way of example, no disrespect intended )
would be 30HP or about 20kW of heat to the fluid.
Mmmmm.... toasty.

Fortunately it's rare that you'd sustain that kind of
output for long, in a high slip regime. But you'd like to
be shed of that heat by the next episode, for sure.

A good trans cooler should do the trick, however I also run a deeper pan.

I have over 115K on my Z28, with a 3500 stall since 4XK mile with no problems. I have a 25000 GVW B&M cooler that I run post-radiator in the summer and pre-radiator in the winter.
