Default Oil Pressure Problems

I just finished a heads and cam swap on my car and have some serious oil pressure problems. I replaced the old oil pump with a non ported factory GM oil pump. Upon first start up, the oil pressure was about 20 pounds at idle were as my old oil pump had 40 pounds at idle. Where did i lose 20 lbs of oil pressure at? So then put my stock oil pump back on and started it again and i had 0 oil pressure. I double checked everything and i cant figure it out. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Sounds like the o-ring on the pick-up tube isn't seated correctly. Did you replace the o-ring when you replaced the pump, or did you re-use the old one?
