Default center-mounted exhaust setups

The other night I saw a sweet Vette with a center-mounted exhaust setup that looked really nice and sounded great as well. I think I'm also going to purchase a setup like this as well. Although I never really hear much talk about them on Ls1's, are they just not very popular? Also what different brands of exhaust can I get a C/M setup? And do most people who have this setup pleased with it? Any facts or info would be great. Joel

You can use the factory CME (Center Mount Exhaust) setup on your car which looks very clean, here's a pic.....

I have the CME on my SS which uses the stock one peice valance above, but with the SLP quad tip CME they offer, here's a pic of mine....

This is SLP kit which uses a 2-peice valance with the quad tips like I have, here's a pic...

I get compliments all the time on mine, I love it, just because it looks different.....

Anyone else have any info on the CME setup? Also when I said that vette sounded real nice, I believe he must have had a little more flow to his exhaust like headers and y-pipe because it sure sounded good. Anyway is there any other brand that makes a CME? Thanks Joel

Newer vettes come stock with CME.

I think you mean on an LS1 F-body. All LS1 Corvettes have the CME.

The LS1 F-bodies that I have seen driving around with CME look pretty good to me. There are a lot of pictures in the appearance section aswell if you wanted to take a look at different setups.

SLP makes a decent CME kit. Also, check out the sponsers as they usually have them listed in their exhaust sections.

Can a custom center mount set up be done on a z28 convertible 1998?

I don't see why that would be any different from any other year or model?

IMO, I like the dual CME better than the quad CME.

Center mounted exhaust tips can be mated to any exhaust system, but you'll have to have a muffler shop do it. All it requires is two extra 90 degree bends towards the center of the car, and that's it. There really isn't much to it.

FWIW, I have my CME mated to my Hooker exhaust (which is behind Kooks LTs and catted-y). Very shortly, I will have my CME mated to true duals. If you are looking to get the twin outlets (not the four outlet one), be prepared to pay some $$$. They are around $250 just for the tips (shipped).

Oh, and that price is not including the fascia, which is required to make it look right, plus you'll have to get it painted. Like I said, $$$.

I used to have a dynomouth setup that had two stainless rectangular z-28 tips mounted in the center. I got alot of compliments on that. Im in the process of doing a CME with my true duals using the same tips. It dosnt look nearly as clean as the ones using the real fascia / valence, but it still looked cool.
