4L80E Speedometer options?

4L80E Speedometer options? I am starting to layout the dash for my Pro Touring project. How do I get the 4L80E to signal a Autometer speedo? Does it have to get converted to mechanical? Anyone done one?

Done it on my monte carlo with an autometer electric speedo. I was running the stock vortec 350 engine and trans combination out of a 97 chev pu. Where autometer showed to cut the wire route it to the speedometer then out to the pcm my tranny would not shift and the scanner showed no vss input. So I hooked it exactly up the way the stock pcm was.
got some diagrams and the general grounds the yellow wire internally in the pcm then looks for a modified ac signal to come back then interprets this as the vehicle speed. I then just spliced the signal wire for the speedo into the purple wire,left factory wiring alone and then calibrated the speedo as per autometers instructions and it is working like a charm almost a year later and no problems. The stock colors for the vss are purple, and yellow at the rear sensor. The front sensor is the input speed sensor. pm if you need more info.
